The front of the neck/chest area gets tight when our shoulders hunch forward - for a multitude of reasons like… prolonged sitting to bracing in cold weather. Sound familliar??!? So the little muscles like the scalenes and SCM get a bit cranky. This can then create a negative loop because these muscles are also the culprit in shallow breathing. So take a little break from what you are doing, rest your eyes, stretch your anterior neck and follow up with a few rounds of deep belly breaths!
